This February, Catwoman is returning to Gotham City and is out to bargain something even more valuable than cash or luxury items - secrets.

Author Tini Leslie Howard and artist Nico Leon are jumping over from Marvel to take over DC's important Catwoman ongoing series beginning with January 2022's Catwoman #39, and they'Ra putt Catwoman right back into the fatheaded of the Gotham underworld to face off against some familiar paces from her past.

Pick up after Ram V and Fernando Blanco's current Catwoman run which began in late 2020, Catherine Howard and Leon's Catwoman will have her face inactive against the rejuvenated Hasigawa crime family - a branch of the Yakuza.  And a face-off with them substance a showdown with Selina's former flame Eiko Hasigawa, who has wrested control of her law-breaking menag for herself.

Nico Leon has studied the Hasigawa clan and their soldiers. Take off a look:

In addition to old flames, there's a original face coming into Catwoman's sphere - Valmont, "a talented, magic master thief" as described by DC - someone "who's very interested in Catwoman's talent for thievery... and in Selina herself."

The name 'Valmont' recalls the narcissistic playboy from the classic French new Precarious Liaisons. If Catwoman's Valmont is a homage to that Valmont, the question becomes who is Catwoman and Eiko Hasigawa in this - Merteuil and Madame de Touvel respectively? Possibly.

Hither's a see at this new DC character, Valmont:

"I don't want to go too Former Armed Forces into what we're doing in the Good Book yet - Selina and I agree that there's nothing more tantalizing than a try - but you should know that I came in with a lot of plans," Howard writes in her newsletter. "I'm construction to a Catwoman-centrical tale the likes that Gotham has never seen. The shape of this storey, what makes it required reading for Selina Kyle's life all became and so clear to me as I worked on this. I'm standing on the shoulders of giants who told my favorite Catwoman tales like [Ed Brubaker], [Darwyn Alfred Alistair Cooke], and [Geneveive Valentine], and I'm thus grateful."

The run will be pale-colored by Jordie Bellaire, with it all overseen by DC editors Jess Subgenus Chen and Jessica Berbey.

Catwoman #39 will be Howard's first major DC operate following short stories in 2016's Shade the Changing Girl #3 and December's Batman: Urban Legends #10.
